In his place stands a man named Logan, old man Logan. He’s concerned for his family but no one else. Having been pushed to the brink by the Hulk Gang, he’s forced to help an old friend Hawkeye to secure the safety of his family for good.
This isn’t the best wolverine story ever told, but it’s certainly the most fun, wild and memorable. There are so many plot twists and moments that make you go, “Wait, what just happened?” as you flick back a few pages to reread everything in case you missed an important clue.
Spoiler alert … something horrible happened to Wolverine when the villains took over the world and destroyed pretty much all the other Marvel heroes. Wolverine now goes by the name of Logan and owns a farm where he struggles to provide for his family.
He’s made the pact to never harm a living being again, yet the day comes when he has no choice but to stand up once again and protect his family. And when he loses it he really, really loses it!
2. Ms. Marvel
Many people have shied away from this book because of its lead character who is a sixteen-year-old Muslim girl. Yet, upon reading the first few chapters the quality of the story and artwork is some of the best in any of the Marvel series.
The story follows a young writer who writes fan fiction and dreams of being a superhero herself. She eventually discovers her elasticity power – much like Mr. Fantastic, except that she can also change how she looks.
The first form she takes on is a stunning woman – perfect curves and a skimpy outfit to boot. However, her new costume’s reality soon gets the better of her as the boots make her chafe and the outfit gives her a wedgy.
Her first villain encountered is The Inventor who operates behind the scenes coordinating most of the bad things that keep happening. Towards the end of the novel we finally find out who the inventor is … and boy is it a doozy!
3. Infinity Gauntlet
It’s refreshing and exciting when one of your favorite villains or heroes is given another story after their death. In this novel Thanos is given another life as the author crafts a cunning and thrilling adventure around his life, leading on to two more sequels in an alternate Marvel universe.
The gauntlet is perhaps the most powerful item in all of the marvel universe, and Thanos obtains it to win over his loved one, with an atomic cost of death to half the people in the universe. Soon ascends a team of powerful marvel heroes to stop his chaotic and destructive plan for selfish gain.
The novel ends with a conclusion that no one ever sees coming, will you?
