Dean Koontz
Dean Koontz is an American author of suspense, horror, science fiction, and fantasy.
Koontz was born in Pennsylvania on July 9th, 1945. After graduating high school, he attended the local community college where he studied English literature. He married his wife Gerda when they were both young adults. Koontz said that his wife is “the most important influence” on him as an artist and writer.
Before becoming a full-time author, Koontz worked as an English teacher, writing after school and on weekends.
He wrote over several decades and has produced over 100 novels. His books have sold more than 450 million copies worldwide.
Koontz is well known for his unique style of storytelling. He paints very detailed scenes, develops strange characters, and uses alliteration often in his work to create imagery that will stay with the reader long after they’ve finished reading.
Some criticize Dean Koontz for including too much detail when describing things because it can be distracting from the story’s main plot. For instance, several references to constantly-changing weather conditions in his books take away too much attention.
Some have praised Koontz’s writing style as being “gripping”, “engaging,” and “captivating”. People like Dean Koontz’s writing for its fast-paced plots and complex characters.
Some common themes in Dean Koontz’s books include good versus evil, the fight for survival, and government conspiracies. Koontz is known for creating suspenseful and fast-paced plots with complex characters.
Koontz is best known for his ‘Odd Thomas’ series about a man who can see dead people and help them move on to the next life.
Koontz is a self-proclaimed “recovering Catholic”. His writings often reflect religious themes.
Dean Koontz’s net worth is estimated to be around $200 million.
And here I thought I had read all of Dean Koontz books, where many of these I have not read! Wow, what an incredible writer! He is one of my very favorite authors, and I’d love to be able to read everything he has written! But I am 68 now, do I have enough years left to read all these books?! God bless you, Dean, keep writing – please!!! Love, Terri Baumbach
