Dragon is an adventure and espionage novel, the 10th book that features the author’s primary protagonist, Dirk Pitt. This is a story of nuclear blackmail. In 1945, one US bomber out of two with atomic bombs was shot at the Japan Sea.

In 1993, a cargo ship of Japan and a Norwegian vessel that were going to the US were annihilated in the Pacific. This incites the Japanese to take their revenge and destroy the Western powers. The top-secret nuclear submarine of the U.S. Navy, Starbucks, has been missing for about six months in the Pacific Vortex, an area where many ships have vanished before. The arsenal is quite dangerous as it can blow up the sea if it is not found in time.

Dirk Pitt has to salvage the nuclear armory before it explodes or international forces find it. He races against the clock in this quest and tackles different traps and underwater assassins, along with the gorgeous and dangerous Summer Moran.

Together with his team, Pitt attempts to save the world from this environmental calamity with the help of their modern yacht. He deals with a bloodthirsty oppressor of West Africa and a billionaire industrialist.

In the desert, Dirk Pitt discovers the truth of two mysteries, including the last flight of a female pilot (Amelia Earhart) who was lost in 1931 and the Civil War’s fate and how it was connected with the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Dirk Pitt, the special projects director of NUMA, and his team close by seeing smoke and try to save the ship. However, he cannot save the engineer who pioneered the revolutionary technology of the ship.
