Building on the success of the first edition, Paul Bennett has extensively updated the research and therapeutic approaches explored in each chapter, including more coverage on the aetiology of conditions. The material will closely link to the DSM-IV diagnostic criteria, and will also incorporate coverage of cross-cultural issues and case studies. There will also be a new chapter on somatoform disorders. This edition offers new features to aid student learning. 'Research boxes' will consider a recent and important research study of an issue covered in the chapter, outlining the background, methods, and results. 'Thinking about' features will identify a current controversy or issue of particular importance, outline the issues, and invite readers to think of their opinions of the issues raised.
