Christopher Golden Books Overview

Body Bags

”The first day at college, my professor dropped dead. The second day, I assisted at his autopsy. Let’s hope I don’t have to go through four years of this…
.” When Jenna Blake starts her freshman year at Somerset University, she’s not only living on her own for the first time, she’s moving closer to the father she never really knew. It’s an exciting time, filled with new faces and new challenges, not to mention parties and guys and…
corpses? Jenna feels torn about her future. She’d like to be a doctor like her mother, but she can’t stand the sight of blood. Her father, a criminology professor, thinks he has the answer and sends her to interview for a job with the medical examiner an interview that takes place in the middle of an autopsy. When a congressional aide goes violently insane and then drops dead, the pathology team at Somerset Medical Center discovers that his brain was ravaged with disease and loaded with insect larvae. As Jenna starts her new job, she is drawn into a web of terrifying disease, dangerous politics, and intriguing mystery. And when one of her professors ends up dead, she starts making connections even the police haven’t seen…
connections which will bring her face to face with a pair of killers: one medical, and one all too human.

Thief of Hearts

‘Why would anyone want to tear out someone’s heart?’ That’s the very real question facing college freshman Jenna Blake, and it has nothing to do with romance and heartbreak. A second grisly murder mystery is unfolding at Somerset University, and her job as a pathology assistant at the local hospital brings Jenna too close to the haunting crimes. Everyone has a theory on the nature of the killings, including Jenna’s older half brother, Pierce Logan, who’s new in town and has some odd ideas about why someone would want to steal a human heart. Meanwhile, Jenna begins working on her own heart when she meets a fascinating older man. But there’s little time for dating when the Thief of Hearts declares Somerset the perfect hunting ground and someone very close to Jenna is the prey.

Soul Survivor

‘There’s nothing magical about murder…
.’ Santeria markings. Hindu magick. Druidic runes. Japanese mysticism. The latest series of murders in Somerset has everyone confused, including the local police and the Medical Examiner’s office. They seem to be the work of one killer, but each murder has a completely different, ritualized, M.O. Working alongside her boss, Dr. Slikowski, Jenna Blake is back on the research trail, trying to discover the identity of the killer. Unfortunately, Jenna is still grieving over the murder of her friend Melody, and is becoming distracted by her growing feelings for Somerset detective Danny Mariano. Jenna needs to do some serious soul searching. Her mind isn’t on the job. But if she doesn’t start paying attention on and find the connection between these ritual murders, Jenna may not survive her first semester.

Meets the Eye

‘There’s no such thing as zombies. Of course I know that. But I also know what I saw with my own eyes, and until I find out the truth of it, that’s going to haunt me.’

Freshman year is supposed to be filled with new experiences, but Jenna Blake’s not sure she’s ready for all of the changes her life has gone through recently. She lost one close friend to a tragic crime, and two others are now becomming romantically involved. Jenna is further unsettled when a baffling new case presents itself at the medical examiner’s office, where she works as an assistant.

The Boston area is experiencing a crime wave that includes both major theft and murder. The problem is, each of the criminals is someone that Somerset Medical Center has declared legally dead and who has been buried.

Jenna has to piece together an explanation for these ‘zombie crimes.’ She knows that there’s more going on than Meets the Eye. The dead can’t really rise from their graves or can they? One things for sure…
she doesn’t want to find out the hard way!

Head Games

‘They were my friends. I’ve known them almost my entire life. Maybe they both just lost it. But I think something’s going on here, and I have to take a closer look.’ Home from college on break, Jenna Blake is horrified to discover that a childhood friend has murdered his entire famly and he’s not the only one. During the next two days, several other area teens experience homicidal rages, but are later unable to explain or even recall their actions. The police are leaning toward the popular explanation: brutality influenced by violence in movies and video games. But when Jenna investigates further, she begins to believe that someone is playing sinister Head Games with her former classmates…
and with her, as well. What Jenna needs is someone to take her seriously, but Slick is preoccupied with a mystery of his own, her father has taken off for France, and her college friends have all gone away for the holidays. Jenna’s on her own this time.

Skin Deep (With: Rick Hautala)

‘A girl is dead, and one of your best friends got his head cracked with a shovel, because some white guy didn’t want to see them kiss.’ When Jenna and Damon first began dating, neither worried too much about the other’s skin color. After all, Somerset is a pretty liberal college environment. But when a black couple is attacked by a white man on campus, race relations become cause for frenzied peace rallies, protests, and debate for the entire student body. Suddenly Jenna has her hands full investigating the attack and defending her interracial romance…
. Then a white student turns up dead at the hands of a black assailant. As racial tension reaches a fever pitch on campus, the crimes continue, growing increasingly brutal. Strangely, in each case no two witnesses can form the same description of the perpetrator. The police are looking for two young men. Until one assailant, pronounced dead at the crime scene, disappears…
.

Brain Trust

‘Maybe the odds are against the cases being connected, but I’d hate to find out that it was some contagious, horrible disease.’ Spring break is prime time for R&R, fun in the sun, and all things low key. So when Jenna Blake goes to Florida with her roommate, Yoshiko, the last thing she’s expecting to find is another mystery. Well, you can take the girl out of the ME’s office, but…
.A series of seemingly natural deaths turn out to be suspicious when each of the bodies proves to have mysterious growths of some kind. Needless to say, despite Yoshiko’s concerns that her roommate is missing the point of a vacation, Jenna can’t stay away from this case. After autopsies, another common denominator among the victims presents itself. And when further research reveals similar deaths in other states, Jenna starts to wonder if the deaths were indeed natural. As the body count climbs, Jenna’s break gives way to a dangerous chase. With Slick and Danny back in Massachusetts, Jenna has only herself to rely on…
for survival.

Burning Bones

‘It’s quite a mystery, isn’t it? I mean, how do you burn someone to death in public, and not have anyone notice?’ Two people burst into flame, burned alive in front of plenty of eyewitnesses with no obvious cause. Spontaneous human combustion is a bizarre phenomenon, but according to published accounts, it happens. Could that be what occurred here? Or is it murder? Buffy has struggled with her own dark side enough to question the subtle distinction between ‘Slayer’ and killer. The Book of Fours (By:Nancy Holder)

In the third hardcover installment of the bestselling Buffy the Vampire Slayer series Nancy Holder, coauthor of Immortal ‘Golden and Holder smartly expand on the show’s slangy lingo and display deep insight into the characters’ Entertainment Weekly presents an epic tale that bridges the gap between Buffy and her immediate predecessor. Here, the Slayer is united with her sisters, and all are pitted against an ancient force manifested in the four elements. The Book of Fours When an old classmate of Buffy’s from L.A. is killed and Willow is severely injured in a car accident, both in the space of one week, the Slayer must yet again face the vulnerabilities of her mortal friends. No one is invincible, least of all the Slayer herself. After all, Buffy’s very existence as the Chosen One bears witness to the demise of countless Slayers called before her. At the same time, from a place of nightmares which Buffy and Faith share a terrible evil invades Sunnydale, setting off a quartet of disasters: A controlled burn of some old forest growth escalates into a raging fire that threatens to devour the town; astonishingly high tides at the beach take out boats, oceanfront property, and innocent bystanders; a hurricane pummels the beleaguered town, but does not quench the fire; and a massive earthquake erupts, disgorging pockets of natural gas from huge sinkholes. Clearly, these catastrophes are linked to the Slayers’ nightmares, which revolve around four strangely swathed, indistinct figures. One is burning, one is dripping wet; one is covered in mud, one shrouded in windswept linen. Each trudges across pristine desert sand dunes carrying a box of grafted skin and bone that Faith thinks she recognizes from a previous battle. Research leads Giles to the Watcher’s Diaries, where he learns that the last Slayer to encounter a similar container was India Cohen Buffy’s immediate predecessor. Strangely, Buffy has never given much thought to the young girl whose death activated her own era as the Chosen One. But now she must draw on the strength of those who came before her or something else will draw on hers. For Buffy is being stalked by a monstrous force that journeys through time, fortifying itself by draining the primal power of a Slayer. Mortal though she may be, if she wishes to stop this demonic presence, Buffy must orient herself on a continuum that predates even humanity itself…

Paleo (By:Yvonne Navarro)

Prehistoric Hysteria

When Buffy starts hearing rumors of alligators in the sewers, she has to wonder about Kevin and Daniel’s hobbies.

Ghoul Trouble (By:,John Passarella)

Something wicked has been preying on Sunnydale students and whatever it is, its methods are pretty gruesome. Buffy locates some human bones that have been picked clean, and knows that she’s dealing with an unearthly evil. Some help from the Scooby Gang would be ideal, but they’ve run into trouble of their own. Oz and Xander are literally perhaps unnaturally mesmerized by a hottie new chick band headlining at the Bronze, and Willow has been captured by Sunnydale’s latest resident carnivores. What they need is the Slayer. But in order to help her friends, Buffy must first dust a vampire one that has an urgent interest in Joyce Summers, the unique ability to resist sunlight, and an open invitation to the Summers’ house…

Oz: Into the Wild

Leaving a devastated Willow behind him he drops out of college and vanishes out of her life, telling her only that he will return when he is confident he can control the wolf within. Viewers of Buffy Season Four will know that he does return and that thanks to a sage in Tibet he did indeed learn to master the wolfish part of his nature. Christopher Golden’s fabulous tale fills in the gaps…
where he went in his search for knowledge and whom he encountered, what happened to him on his travels and exactly how he learned to find that inner strength and peace.

Crossings (By:Mel Odom)

THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME Buffy and Dawn are having difficulty settling into their new roles, now that their mother is gone. Buffy herself is reluctant to cross over to the role of parent, and the two are bickering more than usual. In fact, Buffy’s distraction prevents her from noticing strange behavior among the video game crowd. One of Xander’s friends goes medieval outside the Sunnydale movie theatre, laughing and babbling that he can’t be stopped he’s only in town on a temporary visa. Puzzled, Anya and Xander investigate. It seems that people who’ve been testing a new video game have been demonstrating creepy tics. As the Slayer attempts to put all of the pieces together, Anya is abducted into an alternate demon universe. Buffy had better figure out how to get her friend back to Sunnydale, before the game is over, for good…

The Wisdom of War

When Sunnydale’s shores are invaded by an ancient, demonic threat from beneath the waves, and its citizens begin to undergo a horrible transformation, the Council of Watchers’ response is immediate and unequivocal. Kill the creatures. Kill them all. But there are mysteries upon mysteries here, and Buffy is sure that the Council is hiding something. When she refuses to cooperate, the Council turns its attention southward, to another Slayer who may be more willing to execute their plans. That the Watchers Council can be both pragmatic and ruthless is not in doubt. The ‘wetworks’ team they despatched first to capture and later to kill the errant Faith provides ample proof of that. But the assassination squad that should have taken Faith out failed to complete their assignment, leaving the rogue Slayer alive and apparently repentant in a Los Angeles jail. Desperate times require desperate measures. But is it wise of the Council to try to use her now?

Blood and Fog (By:Nancy Holder)

Spike knows plenty of people and demons who will pay top dollar for this vial: Doc, Rack…
and an ancient evil known as The First.

Spike has encountered The First before. In the good old days in Victorian London, when Spike, Drusilla, Angelus, and Darla ran through the night in pursuit of dark fun, another evil being was stalking the streets, dispatching young women with brutal efficiency. But when the so called ‘Jack the Ripper’ struck too close to their twisted ‘family,’ the vampires found themselves on the same side as the Slayer of that time. Working to bring down Jack, and running afoul of The First, Spike and the Slayer formed an uneasy alliance, which followed Spike all through the twentieth century to present day Sunnydale, now blanketed in a mysterious fog…

Queen of the Slayers (By:Nancy Holder)

No vacation. No benefits. And the only retirement is an early death. With the closing of the Hellmouth and the awakening of hundreds of potential slayers, Buffy Summers thought she had overturned the Slayer’s self sacrifice and earned herself a much deserved break. But the thrill of victory is short lived. The Forces of Darkness are not ones to graciously accept defeat, and the collective rage unites disparate and powerful parties more eager than ever to reclaim dominance. Willow’s magickal distribution of the slayer essence left girls across the world discovering their latent power. Giles races to reorganize the now much needed Watchers Council, and the Scoobies relocate to Europe. And there in Rome, Buffy is drawn to the Immortal a charismatic, if inscrutable, figure. But then comes word that a number of the fresh slayers are being coerced to join an army of slayers governed by the mysterious ‘Queen of the Slayers,’ an awesome evil determined to claim the intoxicating slayer essence for herself. Xander is sent to Africa to learn more about the origin of the slayer essence. Instead, he returns to report that, alarmingly, there’s not enough good in the world to counteract the overabundance of evil, and that the deciding apocalypse is drawing much too near. Alliances are formed and loyalties betrayed as it comes down to slayer versus slayer, leading to an ultimate battle of champions from Buffy’s past and present. And then an unimaginable gift arrives…

Adding to Spike’s list of challenges is a corrupt local vampire community that catches wind of his presence, and when they start messing with him, things get bloody interesting.

The Deathless (By:Keith R.A. DeCandido)

As if Ring Day weren’t enough to make Buffy Summers anxious she can’t even afford one of the less expensive silver bands, the Slayer has her hands full trying to figure out why an average split level house in Sunnydale has all the vampires spooked. When she arrives at the library to discuss this new development with Giles, a package he’s received from an old folklorist in Russia reveals what’s going on: The stars are properly aligned for an attempt to resurrect Koschei the Deathless, a long dead evil sorcerer. So while her classmates are busy choosing rings to demonstrate their school spirit, Buffy must figure out how to keep someone from reviving Koschei and, should she need to resort to plan B, how to kill him again. A little investigating soon leads Buffy and the gang to the necromancer who originally killed the sorcerer, an immortal Russian sorceress named Yulia Dryanushkina, who can control vampires which explains their reluctance to pass by her place of residence. When the crew pays Yulia a visit, she assures them that with Willow’s assistance, she would be able to kill the sorcerer again should he be revived. Neither Buffy nor Willow are particularly comfortable with aligning themselves with the necromancer, but they have no other choice when, twenty four hours later, the vampires start behaving strangely…
and half the senior class goes missing.

Dark Congress

Since the beginning of time, the demonic races have gathered every century to resolve conflicts among them and to determine the course of their future. This centennial event was called the Dark Congress. In the second century b.c., however, the Dark Congress failed to resolve their conflicts. Instead, the Congress ignited into a war that drove wedges between the various demon races from that time until now. And all of it began as a result of Kandida, the great North African river demon, being nearly killed by forces in the Congress and magically entombed in the riverbank. But now, Kandida is free, and for the first time in centuries, the Dark Congress is being called again. All demon races and other varieties of supernatural creatures have been called to gather at the Hellmouth in Providence, Rhode Island. Some gather in hopes of resolution, some in favor of war, and Kandida is tasked to broker a treaty and guide the Congress to peace, wherein everyone might simply agree to disagree. And so the demons gather under a banner of a truce. But the demons still harbor many bitter disagreements with one another. The Congress must have an arbiter of these conflicts, and that someone is Buffy Summers. Buffy is horrified and disgusted to be included. After all, she is not a demon…
is she? She knows so little about her powers that she cannot say for certain where they truly spring from. How can she spend so much time wallowing in the darkness without becoming part of it? Can she possibly agree to a truce with all the horrors of the world, and allow them to come Providence without any attempt to stop them? And does she have a choice?

Cordelia Chase is accustomed to being rocked by excruciating visions courtesy of the Powers That Be, but that doesn’t mean that she is impervious to them. She is particularly disturbed to be visited with the image of someone she knows. It’s Faith whose recent incarceration, it would seem, is the least of her problems. Angel wastes no time in heading off to jail to check on the once rogue warrior, who admits to having noticed various creepies of the supernatural, rather than criminal, variety going bump in the night. She can’t really investigate thoroughly for fear of giving away her status as Slayer to her fellow inmates. The picture becomes clearer when Chaz Escobar, a onetime game hunter, arrives at Angel Investigations. He explains that he is searching for his wife, Marianna, a vampire. He had been working on the cure for her vampirism on a small, distant island but she escaped. Chaz suspects her for being the monster harassing Faith. When Faith is magickally sprung from jail straight into Marianna’s clutches Angel’s Team and Chaz are off to Fantasy Island. Once there, however, they discover that Chaz’s secondary goal is to rid the world of vampires even those with a soul. If Angel aligns himself with Chaz even to the point of self sacrifice, his atonement will truly be complete. But before the two can retrieve the magickal chalice required for the destruction of vampires, they find themselves prey of a species of questionable evolution orchestrated by creatures of true evil: the lawyers of Wolfram & Hart.

. ROCK SOLID An otherwise peaceful day at Angel Investigations is disturbed by the arrival of a desperate man and the demon at his heels. The gang quickly disposes of the monster, only to find that it decomposes the instant it dies, leaving them with little by way of identifying characteristics. The man is of no help, as he’s fallen victim to a stolen identity scam; he’s been wooed by a false Angel and is consequently distrustful of the real deal. And he’s certainly not going to give up the ancient stone he’s pocketed. Angel’s freaked by the thought of his very own impersonator and Cordy’s quick to point out all the more worthy celebrities residing in the greater L.A. vicinity but he doesn’t have time to reflect on the weirdness of the situation. Lorne’s reporting some majorly bad mojo over at Caritas that needs handling. But what ever’s getting under all the local demons’ skin seems to be affecting Angel as well. Will the real Dark Avenger please stand up?

Monster Island (With: Thomas E. Sniegoski)

‘You never know until you’re tested.’ Doyle, ‘Hero’ Since he arrived in Los Angeles, Angel’s mission has been to help the helpless. He has saved countless innocents in his city. However, one escaped his grasp: Doyle, the hard drinking, easy living half demon who came to Angel on a vision quest. Doyle sacrificed himself and in turn reconciled his internal conflict toward his own demonic heritage, leaving Angel with Cordelia and, ultimately, a new cadre to carry on with the good fight. And fight they do. But as the group squares off against evil in the City of Angels, little do they know that back in Sunnydale trouble is brewing as usual. A shakedown of snitches yields info: Someone other than Buffy has been slaying and whoever it is, he or she is strictly after half breeds, going so far as to lie in wait to attack. It doesn’t add up, and the Scoobies are stumped. Back in L.A. the picture becomes clearer when Angel Investigations is visited by an unexpected guest. It’s Doyle’s father, a Brachen demon named Axtius. He’s come to give Doyle a gift: Daddy’s going to rid Doyle of his pesky human side. In fact he’s looking to rid the world of half breeds. He’s not happy to learn that Doyle’s gone, and if someone is to be blamed, it’s Angel. But Axtius doesn’t have time to point fingers he knows where the mixed blood demons have set up camp. Before long Buffy and her avengers have assembled right alongside Angel and Co. Both slayer and vampire have skirted the boundaries of humanity, but neither can support a massacre. A crime against monsters is a crime nonetheless…

SAFE HAVEN Angel and Co. are enjoying a rare moment of relaxation at the karaoke bar Caritas when a loud explosion draws the gang and the rest of the bar’s patrons outside. A building across the way is on fire, but the conflagration is nothing more than a diversionary tactic to distract people from a drive by shooting! And when the smoke clears, Fred is missing. It’s obvious she’s been kidnapped, so Angel, Lorne, Cordy, Wes, and Gunn set about questioning everyone within the immediate radius. At least ten demons were direct eyewitnesses. One problem, though: Each tells a different story of what he, she, or it saw. It could have been gang warfare monster style or Fred could have wandered home without saying good bye. One thing quickly becomes clear: Demons don’t make for the most reliable sources…

Out of the Madhouse (With: Nancy Holder)

KNOCKIN’ ON EVIL’S DOOR

Werewolves. Trolls. Sea Monsters. Rain of toads. Skyquakes. Sunnydale is being besieged by dark forces. But even with Buffy providing her unique style of damage control while Giles is hospitalized out of town, it’s more than one Slayer can handle especially since the abominations are coming from a centuries old portal through time and space.

Somehow, the hell hole must be found and corked at its source. For Buffy, Angel, and the rest of her gang, that means a road trip to Boston where an ailing Gatekeeper resides over a supernatural mansion that has been, until recently, holding the world’s worst monsters at bay. Once there, Buffy discovers the catastrophic truth: the magical structure houses thousands of rooms, all of which are doorways to limbo’s ‘ghost roads,’ and all of which may bring her face to face with the most nefarious forces in hell and on earth forces bent on horrific plans far worse than the Slayer ever imagined.

Ghost Roads (With: Nancy Holder)

Buffy, Oz and Angel are Europe bound, only they’re not flying any airlines. They’re travelling the ‘ghost roads’ of limbo in search of Jacques Regnier, sole heir of the dying Gatekeeper whose Boston mansion is the supernatural barrier restraining thousands of the otherworld’s most nightmarish monsters. The evil Sons of Entropy will do anything to destroy the gate even if it means trading the power laden Spear of Longinus to the vampires who are holding Jacques. Back home, the ghost ship Flying Dutchman has set sail for Sunnydale, determined to shanghai new crewmen dead or alive. For Willow, Xander, Cordelia and Giles, it’s an ocean of trouble; especially when the monstrous Kraken reemerges with a vengeance…

Sons of Entropy (With: Nancy Holder)

All Hell is Breaking Loose Led by the fanatical Il Maestro, the Sons of Entropy are assaulting the supernatural Boston mansion that holds back the realm of monsters, and stealing the life force from the besieged Gatekeeper. In limbo, the Ghost Roads are crumbling, becoming weak and unstable where Hell and the Otherworld have begun seeping in, blurring the passages that lead to the human world. And Xander lies mortally wounded from a failed attempt to free Joyce Summers from the clutches of the zealots who hold her hostage. With the Gatekeeper rapidly weakening, Buffy sends Willow and Cordelia to escort Xander along the Ghost Roads to the Gatehouse, which may hold his only hope of survival. Meanwhile, she, Giles, and an unlikely band of allies take their fight to the very mouth of Hell itself, desperately hoping to save Joyce and repel the evil spawn before Sunnydale becomes a demonic ground zero. Only then can Buffy safeguard the Gatekeeper’s eleven year old heir, the only one able to prevent the ultimate destruction of humanity.

Dark Times

Consequences Sunnydale has always been a haven for creatures of the underworld. But when Buffy Summers awakes in a possible future, she is stunned to discover that Southern California has fallen under vampire rule. Buffy learns that her Slayerettes have already rallied together against the new order. But they’re different now: Willow is a full fledged sorceress, Xander a battle scarred, humorless man, and Oz a frightening split personality. Almost more shocking is that Faith’s gone, and a new Slayer has been called in her stead. Buffy’s astonished at the terrifying alternate reality for which only she herself is to blame. Back in the present, Buffy’s friends can’t figure out why the Slayer is behaving so strangely. They don’t realize that the Prophet has inhabited her body. Either they’re going to have to bring their friend back or Buffy herself, still trapped in the future, will have to find her own way home but not before confronting her worst nightmare…
. To be continued…

Prophecies

Buffy Summers’ adjustment to life at U.S. Sunnydale has not gone smoothly. She feels awkward, insecure, and a bit jealous that Willow’s all over the college life. So when the spirit of deceased Slayer Lucy Hanover appears to Buffy in a dream with news of impending danger, the timing couldn’t be worse. Besides, there’s plenty of evil afoot as it is. A unified troop of vampires has descended upon Sunnydale, operating with a cohesion unusual to most bloodsuckers. Giles thinks a spell will help the gang combat these foes, but tension between Buffy and Willow gets in the way of demon hunting. Before long, a single moment of bad judgment catapults Buffy into an alternate future dimension where vampires reign supreme. Imprisoned in the body of her 24 tear old self, the Slayer must uncover her past misstep and correct it or risk facing a terrifying monster that she herself has created…

King of the Dead

DOPPELG NGLAND Sunnydale. Five years into the future. A bleak, post apocalyptic future for which the Slayer herself is responsible. Her mother has been killed. Angel is missing and presumed dead. Her friends are different, harder. But that’s not the worst of it. Buffy’s enemies are different, too…
. In this alternate reality, old foes are wreaking havoc in vampire dominated Southern California. This in and of itself is no surprise. But when Buffy learns that even the vicious Spike is merely a minion, lackey to the chief bloodsucker, she is rocked to the core. For he serves none other than Giles, the Vampire King. Whom Buffy must face and conquer as her friends back in real time struggle to bring her disembodied spirit home…
. To be continued…

Original Sins

HOMECOMING Joyce Summers is dead. Spike has been slain and Faith, rogue Slayer, is gone as well. Southern California has fallen under vampire rule. And Rupert Giles is Vampire King. Buffy can hold no one but herself responsible for this grim possible future; her own insecurities and petty jealousies led to this moment. She must now gather her inner strength and combat the demon that inhabits the corpse of her most trusted mentor. With the help of Willow and the Slayerettes, Buffy must invoke the elements, stave off a vampire stronghold, and return to her real time body but not before identifying and preventing the misstep that brought about the oppression of those she holds closest…

Timothy is a freak, a weakling, an impossibility. He’s the only person in existence without magical powers and has spent his entire life hidden on a remote island. When Timothy is finally taken back to the city of this birth, he is fascinated by the current of magic that fuels the world, and mesmerized by the buildings and orbs that hang weightlessly in the sky. But he is also marked for death.

Assassins are watching his every move, and the government wants him destroyed. Timothy can’t imagine what threat he could possible pose; after all, he wields no power in this world.

Or does he?

Dragon Secrets (By:Thomas E. Sniegoski)

After learning how his powerlessness can be used as a weapon in the world of magic and defeating Nicodemus’s plan to overthrow the government, Timothy travels to a war torn dimension to help the Wurm: fierce magicians and warriors descended from an ancient dragon race. But while covertly gathering information on the age old feud between the bloodthirsty Wurm and the Parliament of Mages, Timothy unearths a conspiracy and a very different story about those he’s investigating…
But that’s not his only problem: despite Nicodemus’s death, mages are still disappearing…
and this time someone is painting Timothy as the villain.

Ghostfire

Prowlers

A dark fantasy set in urban America from a master of the genre An ancient race of sentient predators lives amongst us. Their numbers are few and they hide themselves well like all predators, they are expert at the art of concealing themselves from their prey. They can pass as human, and blend seamlessly in to human society, whether it be in the guise of cunning corporate lawyers like Eric Carver, or gangland psychopaths like alpha male Owen Tanzer. They are not werewolves but they are the reality that lies behind the legend of werewolves. When bar owner Jack Dwyer’s best friend Artie is brutally murdered, his restless spirit leads Jack to uncover the truth. Jack burns to avenge Artie’s death but who will believe his story of who or what the murderers really are? Jack is on his own except for his girlfriend Molly, his sister Courtney and their head barman, Bill, who hides a potentially shocking secret under the skin. The four of them must destroy the pack that threatens to take over Boston, before they themselves are hunted down as prey.

Predator and Prey

Jack Dwyer has a new enemy…
a vicious, ravenous beast brings a new dimension of terror to the third in Christopher Golden’s spectacular dark fantasy series. Ever since his best friend Artie was brutally murdered by the savage predators known as Prowlers, Jack Dywer has been able to see and communicate with ghosts. Now Artie, along with other spirits who inhabit the limbo known as the Ghostlands, helps Jack in his quest to track down and eliminate the Prowler threat. But Artie’s latest information is startling: The Ghostlands itself is under threat from a new and terrible entity known only as the Ravenous. The Ravenous is stalking the inhabitants of the Ghostlands and destroying them. Those who fall prey to it suffer the ultimate death. For them, there is no longer the chance to move on or be at peace. There is only oblivion. So many times the spirits have helped Jack hunt down or escape the Prowlers. Now it is his turn to save them from the Ravenous if he can do so without endangering himself. For Jasmine, the Prowlers’ new leader, has ordered her pack to wipe out Jack and his allies at any cost. Jack needs Artie to help him keep the vengeful Prowlers at bay. But the Ravenous is on Jack’s trail, and contact with the Ghostlands will lead the supernatural killer straight to him. His links with the dead are a double edged sword and Jack is not sure whether he can avoid being cut…

Laws of Nature

The Prowlers saga continues…
and deep in the rural backwoods lies the nature of the beast within. The remnants of the Prowler pack once led by Owen Tanzer has retreated into the hills and woods of rural Vermont, where a number of unexplained deaths soon has Jack Dwyer on their trail. But the woods hide a sacred meeting ground the Prowlers have guarded for centuries, and the quiet town of Buckton is much more than it seems. The town hosts a Prowler community which has existed for generations alongside their human neighbours, sublimating their instinct for blood in order to live undetected and undisturbed. Their patriarch has even written a secret history in which he reveals their true nature and tries to explain the world from their point of view. Then their peace is shattered forever by the renegades in the woods, and the Prowlers of Buckton have to choose once and for all which side they are on. Meanwhile the crucial question for Jack becomes which of the townsfolk are human and which are not.

Wild Things

Predators by nature, the Prowlers are all around us. Savage killers on the inside, on the outside, most of the time, they look just like us. Wild Things is the fourth climactic volume in Christopher Golden’s series of supernatural thrillers. A series of mysterious deaths leads Jack Dwyer and Molly Hatcher to the fastlanes, rest stops, and all night diners of a highway in upstate New York. Meanwhile, their friend Bill Cantwell heads to Manhattan in search of his missing niece, who disappeared months ago when trying to build a career in New York’s fickle music scene. Back in Boston, Jack’s sister, Courtney, is left alone to hold the fort. But Jasmine, a deadly and vengeful enemy, is growing in strength. She barely survived her run in with them in Boston but has now begun to collect a new pack of fellow predators in New York. When Bill probes the Prowler underground, he finds old friends, secret alliances, and betrayal. His predicament draws Courtney away from safety to try and protect the man she loves. To the north, Jack and Molly uncover the frightening truth that with Jasmine to lead them the Prowler pack has grown larger than they could ever have anticipated. With Prowlers all around them they must reach out to all of their allies, dead or alive, if they are to save Bill and Courtney and survive the final cataclysmic confrontation with the killers on their trail.

The Wild

The world knows Jack London as a writer who lived his own thrilling, real life adventures. But there are parts of his life that have remained hidden for many years, things even he couldn t set down in writing. Terrifying, mysterious, bizarre, and magical these are the Secret Journeys of Jack London. We meet Jack at age seventeen, following thousands of men and women into the Yukon Territory in search of gold. For Jack, the journey holds the promise of another kind of fortune: challenge and adventure. But what he finds in The Wild north is something far more sinister than he could have ever imagined: kidnapping and slavery, the murderous nature of desperate men, and, amidst it all, supernatural beasts of The Wilderness that prey upon the weakness in men’s hearts. Jack s survival will depend on his ability to quell the demons within himself as much as those without. Acclaimed authors Christopher Golden and Tim Lebbon, along with illustrator Greg Ruth, have crafted a masterful tale both classic and contemporary, a gripping original story of the paranormal in the tradition of the great Jack London.
