Peter Lerangis Books Overview

Poof! Rabbits Everywhere

It was not Max’s lucky day but then again, what day ever was? All he wanted to do was pull a fake rabbit out of his magician’s hat, but very much by accident he made real bunnies appear instead! Now bunnies are popping up all over the school and the Abracadabra Club is in big trouble!

Boo! Ghosts in the School!

Jessica’s little brother, Noah, is terrified of ghosts. He’s started hearing funny ghost noises all over the school in the bathroom, in the halls, even in the stinky janitor’s closet. At first, everyone thinks Noah is just making it up. But soon, Quincy, Max, Selena, and even Jessica start to hear ghosts, too! And what’s worse the Club’s first show is coming up, and it looks like it might be cancelled because of the chatty ghost. They have to stop the spooky sounds before the performance is ruined!

Presto! Magic Treasure

Max, Jessica, Quincy, and Selena knew their field trip would be the perfect place to practice their magic tricks. But they had no idea they would find a secret treasure map buried deep in the forest! Suddenly, jewels and magic are just a treasure hunt away if they can keep yucky Andrew Flingus out of the way!

Yeeps! Secret in the Statue

When Quincy opens the Abracadabra Club’s fabulous new magic chest, he unwraps a strange looking statue with one glowing red eye. The statue rattles when it’s shaken. Turns out, this treasure hides its own secret inside. If the club finds the statue’s other eye, they might be able to unlock the secret in the statue.

Zap! Science Fair Surprise!

It’s time for the annual science fair. This year, the kids at Rebus Elementary will be competing against the students of Piggot Academy. The prize is a trip to the American Museum of Natural History in New York! The members of the Abracadabra Club are dead set on winning, but someone keeps sabotaging their projects. Who’s to blame? That annoying Bug Jones? The snobby kids from Piggot? Someone is trying to make Rebus lose the competition and to find the culprit, the Abracadabra Club must reach deep into its bag of tricks!

Yikes! It’s Alive!

When the Abracadabra Club visits the Museum of Natural History, Jessica, Max, Selena, and Quincy learn about the dinosaurs that died out in the Great Extinction. But what if all the dinosaurs didn’t become extinct? What if one of them is still alive today and roaming the halls of Rebus Elementary School? Impossible? Maybe not…

Whoa! Amuseme*nt Park Gone Wild!

Crump’s Playworld is in trouble. The Ferris wheel won’t spin. The coin stamping machine won’t stamp coins. The grille won’t serve food. After seventy five years, Crump’s is falling apart. The amuseme*nt park needs help fast, or it will have to close. Max, Jessica, Quincy, & Selena offer to lend a hand but then things at Crump’s start getting even worse. Much worse. Is someone trying to put the amuseme*nt park out of business? Will the Abracadabra Club be able to stop them?

Wow! Blast from the Past!

The Abracadabra Club is going to take part in the grand opening of Olde Brattle Village. It’s been restored to look just as it did in 1798. Max, Jessica, Quincy, Selena, and their classmates will act as Colonial children. Acting and performing old fashioned magic tricks is lots of fun. But then Jessica spies a ghostly girl dressed all in white. Is Olde Brattle Village haunted? In the end, the Abracadabra Club gets to the bottom of the mystery. The ‘ghost’ is, in fact, just a real life girl who wants join in the fun at Old Brattle Village.

Journey to the Pole

The year is 1909. A motley crew of explorers and vagabonds sets sail for Antarctica aboard the Mystery. The voyage south is long and hard, and tensions between the crew members are severe. Breaking new ground, they set out to conquer the great South Pole. But they do not make it all the way. Instead, they must retreat for their lives. And so begins a year long trek back to civilization, with every day bringing new risk and new adventure.

The Fall Musical

It’s a new school year, and for Casey Chang it’s a chance to make a fresh start away from the bad memories in her old town. But for the Drama Club of Ridgeport High, it means a chance to recruit new members. And Brianna Glaser the Type A co president of the club has her sights set on the new girl. But Casey soon finds herself sucked into the excitement and drama. For these kids, Drama Club isn’t just about a school play, it’s about passion and dreams and the future. All Casey wanted was a new life for herself, but Drama Club has opened up a whole new world.

The Big Production

When it is announced that the Big Spring Musical will be Grease, immediately the drama heats up. Auditions are swamped, emotions run high, and everyone is stressing to make sure that every last detail is exactly right. Meanwhile, it’s all just a bit too much for Brianna, who takes some desperate measures to keep her head above water. Can the Drama Club nail their performance and keep Brianna from falling apart? It could be the chance of a lifetime, and no one wants to be the one to blow it.

Too Hot!

For the Spring production, the Drama Club decides to do something different, something meatier. So they convince Mr. Levin to let them do an independent production of a serious play a play with issues and raw language and some controversy. Just the thing to impress those college admissions boards. When opening night comes around, the show has a piddling turnout. The audience is nearly silent, and the cast thinks it’s a flop. But the next night the place is packed. The second performance is electric. Great, right? Not exactly. A parent lodges a complaint, saying the play is inappropriate for high school. Then someone publishes a piece in the school paper that makes the rehearsal process appear to be rife with all kinds of sordid behavior. There is a huge outcry from the parents and from the school administration, and Mr. Levin is in real trouble. Now the Drama Club members have to band together to help save their advisor from being fired!

Summer Love

The excitement builds as the Drama Club joins an official summer stock production! It’s summer, which for Ridgeport Drama Club means summer stock, and a chance to test their mettle on or behind a real stage. This year, the production stars Shawn Nolan, a young TV actor, and the members of the DC who get jobs as interns are thrilled to work with a real star. But as the Sharks and Jets fight onstage in West Side Story, the tensions between the various interns begin to mount as well. Meanwhile, Reese finds herself falling for the show s star. Can the Drama Club get it together and keep the show from falling apart?
