See No Evil

My home decorating business was booming, thanks to that new account for model homes in a posh neighborhood. Of course, it didn’t seem quite so posh when I came face to face with a man escaping the scene of his crime a murder right next door to the house I was decorating. Now my life’s on the line until the police fi nd the murderer, and I’m guarded 24/7 by my panicky roommates and the overprotective owner of the housing development, Gray Edwards. As a believer, I know help truly comes from the Lord, but I sure wish He’d sent someone less handsome.

Caught Redhanded

Mysteries followed reporter Merry Kramer everywhere. Case in point: On a morning jog one day, she discovered the body of a murdered woman. The small town journalist had to find out who’d committed the horrible crime. And the more she dug, the more she realized that whoever was hiding the truth certainly wouldn’t stop at one murder to protect it. Merry knew she had to decide and decide soon whether finding the killer was worth risking her own life, as well as her future with a wonderful fiance.

Story Behind the BookOver the years, both Gayle and her husband have been involved in the church. Chuck has been an elder for many years, Gayle has led the women’s ministry, and they’ve both taught. They have experienced and observed the fights within a congregation. They’ve also witnessed believers coming alongside someone in need time after time after time. Gayle wanted to write about a church full of real people some good, some selfish and troublemakers. She also wanted the fun of writing a marriage of convenience that turns into a love match. This story provided that opportunity.

When the mission goes south and politics intrude on their plans, the team must rely on their wits and guts to survive. Can they make it with a wounded team member and a female civilian in tow? Story Behind the Book I met Chuck Holton a few years ago when he took my fiction clas*ses at the Mount Hermon Christian Writers Conference. I enjoyed him because my life experience is so different from his. When it was time to develop a new fiction series, I thought it would be fun to combine his military background with my civilian background and write a series right out of today s headlines. He has basically written the male points of view, and I ve done the female. Very challenging and great fun! Gayle Roper

Enough!

Often moms feel their kids getting beyond their control. Through the genre of fiction, Enough! humorously presents patterns for dealing with the situation. In this comical novel, Molly Gregory realizes that her three teens have gotten away from her and goes on a two week strike to remind them to honor her with chaos as the result.

Riding the Waves

I have learned to be content, wrote Paul many years ago. If Paul could learn to be content, then what a joy it is to realize there is hope for us as well. God’s peace and contentment can be ours but as God s blessings were conditional to Israel, contentment is conditional to us. If we learn to recognize the enemies of contentment like envy, loneliness, and ungratefulness, we can replace them with anchors of contentment like godly choices, obedience, and dependence.

A Woman and Her Emotions

Women have a unique relationship with emotion. Many would say that emotion, and women’s responses and reactions to it, is the greatest distinction between men and women. No matter how you try to define it women tend to be more emotional than men. For many women, understanding their emotions and learning when and when not to let their emotional state dictate their actions is difficult. In A Woman and Her Emotions, Gayle Roper addresses the factors and situations that contribute to a woman s emotional stability. From hormonal changes to daily living patterns, she discusses ways to identify one s emotional responses and shares practical ideas for overcoming negative emotional reactions in one s behavior and attitude. Gayle also digs deeper to explore the motivations and unhealthy thinking that often affect a woman s emotions. With guidance and insight, she teaches the importance of committing all of oneself to Christ, including one s emotions, in order to achieve emotional consistency and discover the peace of discernment and emotional freedom.
