Christopher Pike Books Overview

Chain Letter

When Alison first read the Chain Letter signed ‘Your Caretaker,’ she thought it was some terrible sick joke. Someone, somewhere knew about tha tawful night when she and six other friends committed an unthinkable crime in the desolate California desert. And now that person was determined to make them pay for it. One by one, the Chain Letter was coming to each of them…
demanding dangerous, impossible deeds…
threatening violence if the demands were not met. No one out of the seven wanted to believe that this nightmare was really happening to them. Until the accidents started happening and the dying…

The Dance

For Jessica Hart and Michael Olsen, the homecoming dance will end just like the party in horror. The murderer will walk through another wall.

The Party

When Alice McCoy started at a new school, she thought it would be a good idea to get to know the new students better. It began with a party. It ended with murder. What happened in between?

Remember Me

When Shari Cooper awoke at home after being at her girlfriend’s birthday party, her family acted like she wasn’t there. They didn’t hear a thing she said. They wouldn’t even look at her. Then the call came from the hospital. Her father and brother paled. Her mother started to cry. Shari didn’t know what was wrong. Not until she followed them to the hospital. There she found herself lying on a cold slab in the morgue. The police said that it was suicide.

Shari knew she had been murdered. Making a vow to herself to find her killer, Shari embarks on the strangest of all criminal investigations: one in which she spies on her friends, and even enters their dreams where she comes face to face with a nightmare from beyond the grave. The Shadow a thing more horrible than death itself is the key to Shari’s death, and the only thing that can stop her murderer from murdering again.

The Return

THEY CALLED HER A WANDERER. Shari Cooper is dead, the victim of a murderous attack. She is on the other side, in a place of spirits, an eternal realm of light and love. But she is given a rare offer. To return to Earth without having to be reborn. Into the body of a depressed teenage girl. A transfer of souls, they call it. Shari is given a chance to be a Wanderer, and to do a great service for humanity. It is an offer she gladly accepts. Then she is back, in a human body. Yet she does not remember being Shari Cooper. At first she recalls nothing of the afterlife. Perhaps it is just as well. Not everybody on Earth welcomes Wanderers. Of the few who know of their existence, some want them dead. And others, the truly evil ones, wish them much worse than that.

The Last Story

Someone did not like Shari Cooper writing her stories. Shari Cooper had died once, and then returned to Earth as a Wanderer a soul who had been given permission to take the place of another soul in a mature body. Shari has regained her memory of her previous life. More than that she has realized her purpose in returning to mortal life to write stories for young people to help them understand the immortal life that is to follow. Her talent is inspired, her destiny great, and it is not long before Shari and her books are known all over the world. Then one special night a story of incomparable beauty and mystery comes to her. An ancient tale that speaks of the origin of mankind and the purpose of human life. Quickly, almost in a fever, Shari begins to write it down, sure that it is nothing more than a wonderful fable. But what Shari doesn’t know is that her new book is true a mystical blueprint that warns of a great danger to humanity from creatures who despise all human beings, but who have a unique and terrifying hatred for Wanderers. Creatures who will go to any length to stop Shari’s story from being published. Creatures who wait unseen outside Shari’s door.

Every young girl dreams that she’s secretly a princess of a far off land and that someday her true parents will come to claim her and usher her into a life of luxury, an fabulous existence where she might even have magical powers and be swept off her feet by a handsome prince.
Teenager Ali Warner has reason to cling to such a fantasy. Her mother died in a car accident a year ago. Her father, a trucker determined to work through his grief, hasn’t acknowledged Ali’s burgeoning figure or complicated emotions. Her friends still aren’t sure how to talk about her mother’s death. And the Southern California forest that has always been Ali’s refuge is about to be ravaged by logging.
Ali is about to discover that she is a princess a fairy princess. And that she has to save the world. For real.

To claim her fairy powers, Ali must overcome seven potentially lethal challenges. Then she must scale a mountain and confront the King of the Dwarves and the King of the Elves, whose armies are poised to invade Earth.

With her bemused 21st century friends, a sly leprechaun, and an extremely loyal, extremely ugly, troll by her side, Ali begins the most momentous journey of her young life, a journey during which she will learn much about herself and the past she thought she knew. She will conquer fire and water, earth and air, and even time itself. She will be both betrayer and betrayed, will see death close at hand, and will snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
Ali Warner is Alosha. Welcome to her world.

The Shaktra

Ali Warner is thirteen years old. She’s already saved one world. Now she must try to save another. Ali recently discovered that she is not an ordinary teenager but actually Queen of the Fairies. Reclaiming some of her magical abilities, she has taken possession of a mystical talisman whose powers she has barely begun to understand. She has saved the Earth from an invasion by elves and other creatures from the elemental world that lies parallel to our own. Now Ali searches for her missing mother in the elemental world, accompanied by a troll, a leprechaun, and Ra, a mysterious African teen whom she met on the icy slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Ali feels a strange connection to the young man, but does not understand why. They grew up separated by half a world. Attacked by nightmarish creatures, a wounded Ali and her friends are rescued by Drash, a young dragon with an inferiority complex. From Drash, Ali learns that the elemental world is on the verge of destruction at the hands of a sinister being known only as The Shaktra. Meanwhile, on Earth, Ali’s friends Steve and Cindy investigate the beautiful and bewitching Sheri Smith, who is somehow connected to The Shaktra. Too late, Steve and Cindy discover that she is not human at all…
. In a secret ice cavern hidden on a massive island that floats through the elemental heavens, Ali discovers the true relationship between humanity and the elementals and the hideous nature of the enemy she must face. Ali Warner’s quest will not be complete until either she or The Shaktra is dead.

The Yanti

In Alosha and The Shaktra, thirteen year old Ali Warner discovered that she was not an ordinary teenager, but was actually Queen of the Fairies. Through seven painful trials, Ali reclaimed many of her magical powers and defeated an elemental army that was preparing to attack the Earth. In the elemental world, Ali learned the true nature of her greatest enemy the Shaktra and discovered why it covets The Yanti, a mystical talisman of immense power that Ali now possesses. Now, in The Yanti, Ali discovers that a mysterious Entity is masterminding the Shaktra’s attack on Earth, an attack that will kill billions and leave both Earth and the elemental world shattered. Still reeling from the death of one of her closest friends, Ali finds herself accused of murder on Earth and besieged by enemies in the elemental world. The Shaktra has had years to develop her magical abilities and her evil plots, guided by the otherworldly Entity. Ali has only known about her fairy powers for a month. There are holes in her fairy memories and her powers are still incomplete, while the Shaktra commands vast armies of hideous monsters and rules over hosts of dragons. Ali’s allies are few: one dragon, one leprechaun, a single troll, a handful of fairies and an African boy, Ra, who has sworn to serve Ali even beyond death. Plus the mysterious disembodied Nemi whose love sustains Ali through her darkest moments of despair. Only The Yanti can stop what is to come. Unfortunately, Ali has barely had a chance to study it. The first time she tries to use it as a weapon, it nearly kills her. Unless Ali Warner can solve the riddle of The Yanti and the mystery behind the Shaktra’s insane bitterness then the Earth and the elemental world will be doomed.
