Christian Cameron Books Overview

Night Trap / Rules of Engagement

Rules of Engagement has it all gripping heat of battle action and a terrific new hero, a young Naval Intelligence officer hell bent on finding the spy who killed his father. A tale of friends and enemies, sacrifice and betrayal, honor and revenge, this is an exhilarating debut. W.E.B. Griffin

Peace Maker

U.S. Navy pilot and intelligence officer Alan Craik returns to rescue a downed friend and colleague in this second thriller in the series by a former military father and son writing team. Gordon Kent, the pseudonym of a father and son writing team, both of whom have served in the U.S. Navy, brings back Alan Craik in this second tour de force of a thriller. This time, Alan has just returned from sea duty and is stuck behind a desk in the Pentagon. When he learns that his best friend, a CIA agent, has been kidnapped in central Africa just as Rwanda is about to be engulfed in violence he doesn’t need an excuse to set out on a rescue mission. After flying out to join a Mediterranean bound U.S. fleet that is covering the growing Africa crisis, he soon finds himself stranded, along with his wounded friend, in the middle of the continent as war rages all around. Taking the reader on a roller coaster ride from a nighttime helicopter raid in snow covered Bosnia, to a wing and a prayer flight in a single engine plane over the African jungle, and a marathon mission on board a Navy jet this multilayered tale of betrayal, conspiracy, and modern espionage confirms Gordon Kent as a major new voice incontemporary military suspense writing.

Top Hook

The Alan Craik novels have earned GORDON KENT electrifying praise for their breakneck pace and raw emotion, as well as for some of the most remarkable heroes and villains in fiction today. Now U.S. Navy Officer Craik is back in action, all because one man, fueled by anger, ambition, and pain, has ignited an explosive chain of events that threatens not only two good careers, but world peace itself…
. Top HookIt’s springtime in Newport and Alan Craik and his wife, Rose Siciliano, are on top of the world. She s headed for astronaut training; he s going into an espionage school. Parents, pilots, lovers, and loyal navy officers through and through, the husband and wife team are eager to take the next step. Then it all comes crashing down. In a Virginia suburb of D.C., a senior CIA man has committed a series of clandestine acts that have led him into the most dangerous place he has ever been. Now George Shreed s dark secret is in danger and a woman is demanding a million dollars in exchange for her silence. Shreed s next desperate move is to find someone to take the blame for the information he himself leaked. The fall guy will be a woman: Rose Siciliano. Suddenly, an investigation targets Rose, and, by association, her husband, Alan. And as a circle of treachery tightens around them, events race out of anyone s control. In command of an airborne unit on the USS Thomas Jefferson in Trieste, Alan is contacted by the same woman who is blackmailing Shreed. Soon he is being pulled into a vortex of spies and counterspies while a series of stunning escalations take his high tech airborne attachment and the world to the brink of war. In the most dangerous region on earth, Alan Craik is crashing through forbidden airspace to find a spy, code named Top Hook, whose act of betrayal is more complex and chilling than anyone can guess. From the deafening roar of jet fighters launching off an aircraft carrier to nerve shattering clandestine meetings in Turkey, North Africa, and Pakistan, Top Hook is a relentless turbocharged ride and the best work yet from the most original writer in military adventure today. From the Hardcover edition.

Hostile Contact

With twists as harrowing as a high g force turn, Hostile Contact is vintage Gordon Kent: an electrifying blend of military suspense and espionage thriller. In it, Navy intelligence officer Alan Craik returns to action, strapping himself in for a wild ride into a dangerous, borderless realm of spies, counterspies, and high tech warfare on both sides of a potentially lethal conflict between China and the U.S.A. Hostile Contact When Alan Craik and NCIS agent Mike Dukas spearheaded a hunt for a traitor inside the CIA, they landed in the middle of a firefight and made some very powerful enemies. Inside Washington, some still worship the arch spy Craik and Dukas took down and now these men are plotting their revenge. With their expertise in counterespionage, Craik and Dukas have been lured into an operation that will put them in contact with the Chinese, an operation with only one real purpose: to destroy them both. But while they know better than to take anything at face value, Craik and Dukas cannot guess how another player will shape the game. Their contact in Jakarta is a Chinese double agent walking a high wire between his handlers, as the Chinese search for a mother lode of money lost on the covert battlefield. Craik is also holding down his day job, flying a sub hunter S 3B crammed with high tech gear off the coast of the Pacific Northwest. Along with his astronaut to be wife, Rose, Craik and his team are acting on intercepts of a ghost radio whose purpose they can only guess. Craik’s expertise in intelligence tells him to start searching for an unseen, unknown submarine that may be lurking off Whidbey Island with the ability to strike a death blow against the Navy’s most important missile loaded subs. Suddenly Craik is thrust into a secret war raging from the heart of Beijing to the depths of the Pacific, as espionage and sub hunting come together in a chase to rescue a Chinese defector and his family, while a U.S. Navy carrier group is threatened by hostile suicide boats acting on targeting information from a submarine. From the Hardcover edition.

Force Protection

From Rules of Engagement to Hostile Contact, Gordon Kent has captivated readers with novels that combine authentic portrayals of global secret operations with the passions that go with them: the yearning for family and peace, the deceptions of agents in the field, and the extraordinary risks the bravest and best will take for a cause. His new suspense novel is vintage Kent: a heart stopping tale of a terrorist strike, its explosive aftermath, and the struggle of special agents in a battle that is reshaping the globe. To Americans, the scene is agonizingly familiar. The mangled steel of a U.S. warship in a foreign harbor. The revolving loops of CNN footage and faraway streets strewn with debris. But for Lieutenant Commander Alan Craik, the terrorist attack on the USNS Jonathan Harker is part of the job. Fighting terrorism from Pakistan to the Far East, Craik reacts to a spontaneous horror with calm action. But an enemy Craik doesn t know has carried out the bombing in the teeming port of Mombasa, Kenya for reasons he cannot guess. While Alan Craik finds himself in the middle of a scene of carnage, his wife, Rose Siciliano Craik, is fighting her own battle, proving her flying prowess, rising to astronaut training school in Houston while trying to hold her family together. Now she herself has been forced to accept around the clock protection from NCIS the Navy Criminal Investigative Service. NCIS special agent Mike Dukas, Rose and Alan’s friend, is playing it by the book. But he s also playing his hunches. Dukas thinks it might not be coincidence that Craik was in Mombasa when the terrorists struck and that a sniper was using the cover of chaos to take a shot at Craik himself. As agents scramble around the world to find the planners of the attack, and another bomb goes off in Cairo, Craik, his wife, and their friend are at the center of the storm. And as each makes fatal choices, they begin to sense that the fight they re in is not the kind they ve planned and trained for and that whoever is behind the devastating Mombasa terrorist attack may be coming relentlessly after them. From the Hardcover edition.

Damage Control

During a fleet exercise in India, Alan Craik faces a minefield of explosive events that threaten to tear the country and a U.S. battlegroup apart. A military base is attacked by ‘fringe elements,’ an Indian submarine mutinies and then shoots down a U.S. Navy aircraft, and a group of Indian scientists are killed when they are attacked with Sarin gas. Craik, ignoring the conventional wisdom that the incidents are unrelated, believes that a fanatical group have control of certain elements of both the Indian government and its armed forces. Then the rebels seize part of India’s nuclear arsenal. Suddenly, a U.S. carrier battle group joins Pakistan, China, and Saudi Arabia on the target list. The world is faced with the spectacle of a nuclear capable nation in the hands of a self destructive religious cult, and it’s up to Craik and a team of specialists to re capture the nukes and prevent massive devastation. But with time running out and the cult leader still at large, are they already too late?

The Falconer’s Tale

Jerry Piat has been on the run from the FBI for two years, but he’s about to be made an offer he cannot refuse. Clyde Partlow a CIA executive needs Piat for a mission that involves a fearsome member of the Saudi ruling class who has been cheating his own associates out of funding for terrorism against the West. Piat’s job is to entice former agent Digger Hackbutt into working for the CIA again. Hackbutt will use his exemplary skills as a falconer as bait for the Saudi aristocrat, which in turn will hatch a daring plan for blackmail. Meanwhile, suspicions within the CIA arise concerning Clyde Partlow’s intentions in the affair. With the bait set everything seems set for success…
but a terrible disaster looms.

The Spoils of War

In Tel Aviv, U.S. Navy Commander Alan Craik agrees to look into the death of a former Navy employee. What should have been a routine investigation quickly becomes something very ugly: nominal American allies in Israel withhold or alter information; colleagues at home initiate their own operation to satisfy the political needs of Washington; a wife betrays her husband; and soon deceit and distrust prove to be the only common denominator. When Mike Dukas a dogged, cynical special agent of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service joins the investigation, Craik is led to Jerry Piat, a renegade CIA officer. With agents of Mossad and the Palestinian Authority always close behind them, Craik demands the answers to some far reaching questions. But what is the cost of telling the truth?

Killer of Men

Arimnestos is a farm boy when war breaks out between the citizens of his native Plataea and and their overbearing neighbours, Thebes. Standing in the battle line the wall of bronze for the first time, alongside his father and brother, he shares in a famous and unlikely victory. But after being knocked unconscious in the melee, he awakes not a hero, but a slave. As he tries to make his fortune and revenge himself on the man who disinherited him, Arimnestos discovers that he has a talent that pays well in this new, violent world, for like his hero, Achilles, he is ‘a Killer of Men‘.

A well born officer of Athenian cavalry, Kineas fought shoulder to shoulder with Alexander in his epic battles against the Persian hordes. But when he returns to his native city, he finds not glory but ignominy, as all veterans of the Boy King’s campaigns are sent into exile. With nothing to his name but his military skills, Kineas has no choice but to become a mercenary, and soon accepts a commission to soldier for the Tyrant of Olbia, a wealthy city on the Black Sea. But when he reaches Olbia he finds he and his tight knit band of Athenians have stumbled into a deadly maze of intrigue and conspiracy as the Tyrant plots to use them as a pawn in the increasingly complex power games between his own citizens, the so called barbarians of the encroaching Scythian plains, and the dread military might of Macedon. Caught between his duty to the Tyrant, his loyalty to his men and a forbidden love affair with a charismatic Scythian noblewoman, Kineas must call on all his Athenian guile, his flair on the battlefield, and even he is convinced the intervention of the gods, to survive.

Storm of Arrows

Kineas, the Athenian cavalry commander, has come a long way since being dismissed from the army of Alexander and vengefully exiled by his own city. Together, his mercenary force and their Scythian allies have defeated a mighty Macedonian army at the Ford of the River God, and his adopted city of Olbia is now free once more. But his destiny will not allow him to enjoy the fruits of victory for long. Far to the east, at the farthest edge of the Sea of Grass, Alexander is threatening to crush the Scythian hordes once and for all. The Lady Srayanka of the Cruel Hands, the Scythian warrior princess who spurned a king’s love to be at Kineas’s side, is pledged to take her tribe east to help stop ‘the monster’ and Kineas knows he has no choice but to follow, even if it means embracing the violent death in battle that he has seen prefigured in countless dreams. But long before he can confront the might of Alexander’s army alongside his beloved Srayanka, he must undertake an epic journey, of breathtaking daring, taking an army through hundreds of miles of hostile terrain towards his own appointment with fate.

Funeral Games

Satyrus and Melitta, twin heirs to a rich kingdom on the Black Sea, become desperate fugitives when their mother, the Scythian warrior princess Srayanka, is cut down in a savage act of betrayal. Accompanied by their tutor, the Spartan Philokles, they must make a perilous journey west, pursued by ruthless assassins, to find sanctuary with the army of their father’s closest friend, Diodorus. But Diodorus is caught up in the tangled web of alliances, betrayals and intrigue that followed Alexander the Great’s death, as his generals fought over the huge empire he had created and soon the twins will have their first taste of real battle as two Macedonian warlords clash. In this violent and unstable world, they must chose sides carefully, as Antigonus One Eye, and his brilliant son Demetrius, prepare to take on the might of Ptolemy’s Egypt, and the forces gather for the biggest and most spectacular battle the world had ever seen Gaza.

Washington and Caesar

Inspired by a little known historical fact that American slaves fought alongside the British in the Revolutionary War this epic novel tells of a Mount Vernon slave who joins a Loyalist black regiment charged with defeating his former master on the battlefield.

The year is 1773. A new slave arrives at George Washington’s Virginia estate and is given the name Caesar. But the war for independence will soon bring a turn of events neither master nor slave could have predicted. Within months they will be fighting on opposite sides: Washington as commander of the Continental Army, Caesar as a soldier in the legendary Loyalist corps made up of former slaves. In this captivating tour de force brim*ming with spectacular battle scenes and gripping historical detail, Caesar’s perilous rise through the British ranks is deftly interwoven with the story of Washington’s war years, leading to the day when they come face to face again this time in uniform.
