'Tales Of The Monks' were the most popular stories of the Middle Ages, and were intended to serve as a manual for the preachers, compiled mainly to illustrate moral and religious virtue.From 165 hand-lettered manuscripts in both Latin and German, the first English translation was published in a black letter edition between 1510 and 1515.
