Rara prima edizione di un trattato scientifico in quattro parti intitolato Gnomonices Biformis (Gnomonica a doppia forma), sulla costruzione di quadranti solari, ad opera di Agostino dal Pozzo. Nulla si conosce della vita dell Autore, se non che sia presumibilmente imparentato con Andrea del Pozzo (1642-1709), architetto e pittore italiano. Il trattato studia in maniera completa ed esauriente la proiezione della luce proveniente dall universo per la progettazione prospettica di meridiane e orologi solari e per il calcolo e la determinazione delle ore del giorno in tutti i luoghi della terra. L opera è suddivisa in quattro parti e si basa sugli insegnamenti di Euclide, di Teodosio di Bitinia e di Apollonio di Perga, famoso per le sue opere sulle sezioni coniche. La bellissima incisione allegorica posta in antiporta illustra la prospettiva delle ombre proiettate dalla luce e i calcoli e le misurazioni per determinare l ora esatta. Ognuna delle quattro parti in cui è divisa l opera, possiede un proprio frontespizio ed è preceduta da un proemio al lettore e da un indice alfabetico. Il trattato è riccamente illustrato da disegni prospettici e schematici, da proiezioni e da tabelle numeriche. [Cesate, MI, Italy] [Publication Year: 1679]
