Description: Lyon, Jean de La Place, 19 mars 1523, petit in-8 gothique, 12 ff. n. ch. (titre rouge et noir, table), cxcj ff., sign. A(viii)-B(iv), puis a-z, &, toutes en 8 (sauf la dernière), initiales historiées, vélin souple à l'imitation, dos à nerfs, gardes refaites (reliure du XIXe s.). Qqs mouillures. Certains éléments de l'illustration de la page de titre ont été recouverts à l'encre brune. Très rare impression lyonnaise d'un texte au demeurant très édité : les Gesta Romanorum compilés à la fin du XIIe siècle par Hélinand de Froidmont (attribution traditionnelle) forment un de ces nombreux recueils d'exempla médiévaux (anecdotes, contes, récits) servant à l'édification et à la direction morales. Quelle que soit son origine exacte, ce fut l'un des plus populaires jusqu'au milieu du XVIe siècle. Par la suite, elle sombra dans un oubli presque total, jusqu'à son exhumation par les érudits du XIXe siècle. Brunet II, 1571-1573 (pour les éditions incunables). Un seul exemplaire de cette petite édition au CCF (Beaune). Baudrier ne connaît d'impressions lyonnaises de notre titre que deux de 1539 (aux volumes V et X). [France, Paris, FRA]
