About the authors
Mike Kraus arrived on the fiction scene in 2012 with the surprise smash hit Final Dawn, a post-apocalyptic series that sold over 250,000 copies in just a year. A few years later he formed Muonic Press, the 5+ year top indie publisher of post-apocalyptic fiction on Amazon (according to book analytics firm K-lytics) and a truly unique indie press in how it operates collaboratively with authors to form connections with readers that last beyond a single book or series. Muonic Press and Mike collectively have over 3.25 million sales as of 2023, and that number continues to grow as they produce amazingly unputdownable entertainment.
In his youth, Mike Kraus devoured the works of Crichton, King and Preston & Child like there was no tomorrow, along with a healthy dose of technothrillers from the likes of James Rollins. These influences clearly ring true to this day, as readers have described Mike "like if Crichton and King had a love child" and he still loves imbibing in a pulpy technothriller whenever he has the chance.
You can follow Mike's books by signing up for his newsletter on his website (MikeKra.us) or visiting him on Facebook (facebook.com/MikeKrausBooks) and you can visit Muonic Press and www.muonic.com.
Kate Pickford is a displaced Briton who writes for an American audience. She has been a screenwriter, a script doctor, a book coach, a developmental editor, and a ghostwriter covering everything from international uprisings to dragons and one-eyed samurai. Her post-apocalyptic works have sold tens of thousands of copies, but she now returns–under her own name–to her first love: science fiction.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThrong plot(s). An interesting twist on the typical dystopian genre. This is a new and interesting way to approach wide-spread disaster, from the possibility o industrial malfunction. The greed of the human race at its most dangerous. Strong, believable characters, but not too many to be able to keep track of.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2019Format: KindleVerified Purchasegoid read except finding at times to much of the "self talk / mind games" going on zi gound myself saying geezze just get on with the story. But alot of back ground ingo is given in these times of "self awareness" parts. The how why and cause of each persons actions and reactions to the world before them. That is why I gave thes book a 4 star rating its good but gets bogged down in places.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI enjoy the apocalyptic genre but this series is better than just exciting fiction—it informs and explains and encourages the reader to think realistically, yet creatively about the many possible ways we must be ready when the SHTF. I like the different personalities, ages and preppier abilities written out...anyone can find a character to relate with and use that to rethink your beliefs, prejudices careless behaviors. Most of all, it has brought me hope that even in terrible circumstances there are ways to be prepared and even wise as we work (or not) together.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseJJP/MK have penned the fourth SYFY novel in the Melt series. The problems continue to exist and our intrepid lady continues to discover what had been added to the KP formula. The Melt areas have increase and continue to grow. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA continuing tale of survival and perseverance in the face of a true disaster. The characters come to life with courage and loyalty.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseFrom the beginning of this series, I have been sitting on the edge of my seat. Not stopping, turn one page after the other. What a thriller, extremely suspenseful. Read the Melt series. It is one of the best books I have read this year.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI'm enjoying the books. I am. Only... Every person is morphing into a non-idiot with incredible courage and integrity. I'd like to think it's possible but really... It does stretch the bounds of imagination (even more than the usual limber movements required by PA fiction).
- Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI love that each book centers on getting to know each of the central characters! Both Petra and Christine, different in their own right, have both grown during Burn. And Barb! What a character! Heartbreaking and heroic! Job well done!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Drawn Out
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI enjoy the overall story but the complications that arise are getting silly. I found myself skimming the chapters. Until I finally abandoned. And some of the characters could not seriously survive their injuries and subsequent treatments

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoy
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseDidn't know what to expect from this book. But it just keeps getting better,or worse if look at from the standpoint of the story line.
Mad I didn't download the next instalment, have to wait till I get home for that. Damn it.
Great stuff ,love all the characters, even if it is a little unbelievable that a whole family and their neighbours are that well prepared. Then again, why the hell not.
