About the author

Felice Stevens writes romance because what is better than people falling in love? Her favorite part of a romance novel is that first kiss…sigh. She loves creating stories of hopes and dreams and happily ever afters. Her stories are character-driven, rich with the sights, sounds and flavors of New York City and filled with men who are sometimes deeply flawed but always real.
Felice writes M/M romance because she believes that everyone deserves a happily ever after. Having traveled all over the world, she can safely say that the universal language that unites people is love. Felice has written in a variety of sub-genres, including contemporary, paranormal and has a mystery series as well.
Felice is a two time Lambda Literary Award nominee and the Lambda Literary Award winner for Best Gay Romance for her book, The Ghost and Charlie Muir.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2016Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved Learning to Love when it was part of the holiday anthology and I was so excited that Felice decided to add to it. The additions are terrific and made this story even more special.
Gideon broke my heart. He was so broken and sad. I hated that he had spent his whole life feeling lost and alone and being made to feel stupid because of his disability. When he spoke about his crush on Jonah and how he felt like Jonah had always looked down on him, I could feel his pain.
I understood when he lashed out at Jonah but loved it when Jonah wouldn’t back down. He stood strong and wouldn’t let Gideon hide. I found myself falling for hard for Jonah. He was so patient and steadfast. I loved his quiet strength and that he was willing to fight for Gideon.
Learning to Love packs a lot of emotion. I felt their longing, their pain and their love for each other so strongly. Seeing them open up and share their vulnerabilities was beautiful.
As I read this story, I realized why I love Felice’s books so much. Her characters always share a deep love and respect for each other that puts a smile on my face and leaves my heart happy.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWhen I started this book, I was prepared to hate it. I disliked the protagonist intensely, the opening was rushed, and the narrative felt amateurish. Then I got into it, saw where it was going, and decided it was a pretty good story after all. When I understood the reason for Gideon's seemingly irrational anger, I felt empathy for him, understood his frustration, and began to see him as the strong character the author intended him to be.
One thing I will say about this author, is that she needs to work on her character development, and her narrative is rather thin and flat. Time and practice should cure that. Still, in all, a good story. Entertaining, easy read.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI read In a New York Minute and Loved it and realized there were books about side characters in that book. This book
Introduces the restaurant and catering business that we see Gideon use in the book In a New York Minute.
I felt bad for Gideon because it seems like he lived for ar long time with anger issues over how he was mistreated growing up. He was so angry he missed all the times Jonah kept coming back to him and telling he loved him. Anger does strange things to people. In this case, Gideon saw things that were never there.
I loved this book. I loved how every step of the way, Jonah was there for Gideon.
This is a total must read.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseMoody, insecure Caterer Gideon reconnects after a 10-year absence with Rabbi Jonah and a romantic and life-changing journey begins. It's a likable enough storyline, although I was not a fan of Gideon. He came across as fiery, quick to jump to the wrong conclusions, often. I understand that his view was clouded by his disability, he was temperamental. I also thought the Love declarations came too soon after there being a 10-year separation and MCs not being in a relationship before. Overall, it an average read.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2016Format: KindleVerified PurchaseShe's baaaaaack! Felice Stevens has spun out the first of a new series which is as angst ridden and almost predictable as most of her others which involve either one or two mid-twenties to early-thirties nice Jewish boys from New York. The twist in this one is that one of the boys (Jonah) is the son of a rabbi (no spoilers) and the other a classmate of his (Gideon) who has returned to Brooklyn after 10 years of developing his reputation as a super chef and caterer.
Though both were obliquely introduced in the finale of her Breakfast Club series, none of the characters from that series appear herein, which was a bit of a surprise. Then again this story has to be confined to a very narrow environment because of the really complicated ways these two grew up, and apart, and come together again.
I bought this book when it appeared, and I was reading another which I have just reviewed ("Timing," by Ashley John), and what struck me was how similar the covers are. Gideon is on this cover, and he is like Tom on the cover of the other book the one with the deepest psychological issues. Indeed, they are very deep and quite shocking in some respects, but Jonah, like Cole in "Timing" is the rock and soft soul who offers a path to closure and gratification.
However, Gideon is one hot-headed dude, and Jonah so soft-hearted that it seems never the twain will meet. But somehow they do, with complications thrown in from the usual suspects, most of whom are well described and true to life.
I can't tell whether the label "An Enemies to Lovers Gay Contemporary Romance" is a sub-title or name of a new series, but if this is a stand-alone it leaves you hanging on a couple of issues. If it is the beginning of a series, it's got some interesting potential characters for sequels, but not any that fall into the enemies-to-lovers category. But what I do know is that Felice Stevens is at the top of her game once again, and that is just about perfect for me. Mazeltov!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2016Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI was well on my way to giving this book 5 stars....and then the end happened. Everything was going so well: Gideon's struggle to think he was worth something, Jonah's unwavering love and support for Gideon and Rabbi Fine (Ari) who just has to be a saint. Then the author included 2 twists and just left them unaddressed. Not even the epilogue addresses them. What? I want to know who set the fire and why and what did Gideon do with regards to a relationship with his father? Aside from the lack of closure regarding those two things, the book was really good. It's not all about sex and there are highlights of tender moments and emotional support which melted my heart. I recommend it but I wish that the author would have tied up those lose ends.

5.0 out of 5 stars A story of love stronger than anything.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseOMG, this book was so sweet! I totally fell in love with Gideon & Jonah. I read All or Nothing ages ago when it was released and was always curious about Gid & Rabbi Jonah, but never got around to reading their book untill now... I really don't know what took me so lomg!!!
Their bond is so strong nothing can break it, despite Gideon's prickliness, jonah is strong enough in his love and his conviction about how right they are together that he's not about to let Gideaon run away from him!

1.0 out of 5 stars Pulp Fiction
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe way the author sketches the two lovers, the way they communicate with each other and the way they act is not convincing at all. That might be due to the fact that the author is female, but that's just my opinion. To me this novel is full of stereotypes and tackiness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Read
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA real "feel good" story restoring our faith in humanity. Loved the characters and twists of the plot. One can easily become enamoured with the two main characters and feel the passion they hold for each other. A great story for anyone dealing with struggles in a relationship and how to reduce them to the issues that really matter.
