About the Author
Linda Ford lives on a ranch in Alberta, Canada. Growing up on the prairie and learning to notice the small details it hides gave her an appreciation for watching God at work in His creation. Her upbringing also included being taught to trust God in everything and through everything—a theme that resonates in her stories. She and her husband raised fourteen children—ten adopted. She currently shares her home with her husband, a grown son and a live-in paraplegic client.

About the authors
I have been telling stories most of my life. I often say that I write because I can't NOT write. Storytelling is in my DNA. For years I wrote genre fiction (westerns, inspirationals, romances) under the pen name Anna Schmidt. Now I tell the more complex stories I love using my "real" name, Jo Horne.
Linda Ford grew up devouring books and making up stories in her head, often late at night when she couldn't sleep. But she hadn't planned to write. Instead, she dreamed of running an orphanage. In a way, that dream came true. She married, had 4 homemade children, adopted 10 and lived her dream. She lives on a small ranch in western Alberta, where she can see the mountains every day. She and her husband continue to enjoy their children and grandchildren. Even after publishing over 100 books, Linda still finds a great deal of enjoyment and satisfaction in creating imaginary worlds and has no plans of slowing down in her passion of writing!

- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2013The heroine finds a man who has been hurt lying in the snow. Though concerned about not knowing anything about him, she gets him into her home to try to fix his injuries. The story is about them getting to know each other, falling in love (she's a widow) and him helping her to save her homestead. It's a good story with likeable characters. I know women will like this story. I don't know if men will or not. No violence in it. Which made me happy. It is a story that you hate to put down because you want to know what is going to happen next.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book is amazingly interesting. It covers the Prejudice of women doctors in the early west And how they were received. It also takes into consideration the prejudice against the previous slaves and their Skin color. Also wanting to inform readers that we DO have many superior physicians in present day Boise, Idaho.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2012Short stories are perfect for busy times such as Christmas. After a hectic day, I curled up with hot chocolate; the tree blazing with lights at my back, and a fireplace at my toes. The first story, A Prairie Family christmas by Anna Schmidt was excellent. The perfect children made me envious, but then, back in the 1860's, parents taught manners, gave chores, and expected their children to be well-behaved. I loved the home made gifts. There wasn't a huge pile of them, just simple, well thought out gifts from each to the other. Nuggets of faith and wisdom without being too preachy were here. This was a good story.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2013It's very rare that after starting a book I don't finish it. I read the first story with difficulty, started the second but just couldn't continue. The story was just okay for me. I felt the first story was more about belief and worship and God than real storyline. I have a very strong belief myself but as a grown woman feel I know my God and this story seemed to be more preaching and how to believe than anything else. For me, it goes too far into religion just as others seem to go too far into the sexual. I prefer more of a middle of the road book that allows me to make those decisions personally.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2013Format: Mass Market PaperbackVerified PurchaseLately my reading tastes have progressed from general Romance genre (contemporary, historical, paranormal, suspense) to Inspirational Romance reading. It seems as my faith has increased, my choice of reading material/genre has narrowed. I still like historical, contemporary and suspense romances but only in Inspirational formats. I guess I want the couples in my books to have God be a part of their lives as He is in mine.
