Book Description:
Nikolai Dmitrievich Kondratiev (1892 1938) was a leading Soviet economicst and is known for his identification of the long wave of economic activity. In the Soviet Union Kondratiev established his reputation with his studies of the domestic and world economies. This four volume edition contains a large selection of his work in translation. Kondratiev produced works on aspects of long waves, questions of methodology, economic dynamics, economic policy, and both the history of economic thought and economic history. Between 1920 28 Kondratiev was director of Moscow Business Conditions Institute, which he also founded. He was an author of the first five year plan for agriculture in 1923 4 and an active participant in discussions on many issues. In 1928 he was removed from his post at the Institute and imprisoned and most of his ideas and practical proposals were rejected as 'wrong and reactionary'. He and his work have been rehabilitated since the end of the Soviet regime.
